Travel grants provide the means for people from all walks of life to experience new cultures, learn new languages and see many parts of the world for the first time. Grants for traveling are typically given by a single organization, department of government or sponsoring company to a recipient who can translate the experience he receives from the travel for some sort of higher purpose, whether it’s for education, journalistic endeavors, teaching perspective or overall well-being.
Some of those available are listed below – Pulitzer, Road Trip Nation, and Fulbright.
Pulitzer Travel Grants
The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting offers travel grants to writers, photographers, filmmakers and radio producers. It also encourages applying for a grant with a group project, as multimedia reporting is ideal. It equally considers applications from freelance or staff journalists. The purpose of these grants is to allow journalists to cover costs associated with a timely, globally important international reporting topic or area.

Road Trip Nation Travel Grants
Road Trip Nation offers two grant programs: the Green RV Road Trip and the Indie Road Trip. The Green RV Road Trip Program demands a structured trip with three travelers (either apply together or be placed with others) who must drive the provided RV during the summer months. In contrast, the Indie Road Trip program allows grant recipients to use whatever vehicle they want and travel any time of year. Most travel grants through Road Trip National are given for US-based road trip travel, and the grant recipient must travel to interview someone who has achieved success about his journey and insights about success. Although college students are often applicants for this type of grant, the organization welcomes people who never went to college and those who have already graduated. No age limit or status is imposed on potential applicants.

Fulbright Grant Program
Fulbright grants are often given for travel. They’re typically granted for US travelers to go abroad or for foreign students to come to the US. As one of the most esteemed scholarship and grant organizations in the country, the Fulbright Program grants awards for one year abroad. Eligible applicants are graduating college seniors, working professionals (who are early in their career), graduate students and artists.
